April 4th 1991 was the date of incorporation of our company, previously known as Grundy Mack. As long as there are men and women with a love of nostalgia and old cars, there will always be a business in buying and selling them, however, it’s been much more than a business – more a way of life. Here are some of the landmark moments in our journey so far.
In late 2014 we were delighted to announce the opening of a new workshop facility. From the 1st October 2014, all Classic & Sportscar Centre's vehicles were to be prepared in a new facility, based six miles away on Showfield Lane, Malton. This new facility also enabled us to offer classic car maintenance and restoration services to all car enthusiasts, not just those who have bought cars from us.
On Saturday 2nd April 2016 Classic and Sportscar Centre celebrated 25 years in business at the National Railway Museum in York with a Black Tie dinner for over 230 people. Guests included family, friends, staff, former employees and of course many of our wonderful loyal customers. Guest speaker Quentin Willson entertained and former England Rugby World Cup captain Martin Johnson was in attendance.
In late 2017 we opened our vehicle trimshop led by Joe Sawyer. We offer a range of services from a simple seat repair to a full interior re-trim. Whilst our trimming team have considerable experience in modern vehicles, our work on classic cars, featuring traditional woollen headlining's, mohair hoods, top quality hides and Wilton carpets has proven to be in high demand.
After eight months in planning and specialist build our eagerly awaited DAF LF55 purpose built classic car transporter finally arrived in 2018. Our enclosed transporter delivers classic cars to its new owners all around the UK and Europe, and is a great advert for the business as it travels thousands of miles each year.
In July 2016 we hosted Malton Show for the first time, bringing along around 50 classic cars. Year on year the success and popularity has grown with between 150-200 cars attending. It has now turned into our flagship annual event hugely supported by our regular customer base and the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club.
